About the event
The following is taken, with permission, from the composer’s biography.
“Elaine Hagenberg’s music ‘soars with eloquence and ingenuity’ (ACDA Choral Journal). Renowned for her ability to seamlessly weave lush harmonic landscapes, captivating melodies, and evocative piano and orchestral accompaniments, she offers a unique blend of artistic sophistication and universal appeal.”
In a brief description of her motivation for writing “Aeterna Via,” which means “eternal way,” she describes a path resembling Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey, which follows the adventurer leaving home, filled with hope and anticipation, though the challenges of growth and life, to finally return home into the welcoming arms of those he left.
TCS performed Hagenberg’s “Illuminare” in 2024, and will be offering this newest work “Aeterna Via,” on April 30th at the Porter Center.
